|Norman Scarth Released from prison
Veteran justice campaigner Norman Scarth (86) has been released from Armley Gaol this afternoon (Thursday) following a successful appeal against what was perceived as one of the harshest contempt of court sentences in recent history.
Norman was sentenced to six months imprisonment for contempt of court for making a recording of court proceedings.
Upon his release Norman was greeted by family and well wishers, speaking briefly to the press Norman reiterated that he had never been given the chance to present a defence to the accusation and denied he was making a recording.
Outside the gaol around a dozen well wishers and supporters gathered to support Norman who has spent the twilight years of his life fighting against alleged corruption in the judicial service.
