World’s cheapest gas: Top 10 countries

While Americans and Europeans  bemoan the cost of gasoline at the pumps, people in some other parts of the world enjoy filling up their tanks cheaply thanks to subsidies provided by wealthy, oil-rich governments. But fuel subsidies tend to benefit the rich (who own motor vehicles) more than the poor. The IMF estimated that 65 percent of the fuel subsidies in Africa benefit the richest 40 percent of households (2010). Only 8 percent of the $410 billion in government fuel subsidies worldwide went to the poorest 20 percent of the population (International Energy Agency – estimates, 2010).

The British insurance firm Staveley Head has released the latest list of the world’s gas pump prices. Here are the 10 cheapest countries on Earth to fill a gas tank.

1. Venezuela- $0.18 per gallon ($0.05 per liter)

With elections looming in October 2012, President Hugo Chávez knows that raising gasoline and diesel prices would be a risky move politically.  His presidency is already threatened by his deteriorating health, providing a unique opportunity for the opposition’s candidate, the telegenic Henrique Capriles Radonski, to replace the ailing leader.  The last time the government attempted to raise gasoline prices in 1989,l riots ensued, and hundreds of people died. Venezuelans are likely to continue paying less for fuel than bottled water for years to come.

Operators Admit Fukushima Radiation Levels Exceed 2 1/2 Times Announced

fukushimaradiation1 Operators Admit Fukushima Radiation Levels Exceed 2 1/2 Times AnnouncedFukushima plant operators are now admitting that the Fukushima radiation levels emitted from the disaster exceeds almost two and a half times the initial ‘estimate’ produced by Japanese safety regulators. The announcement comes after independent researchers exposed the true amount of radiation leaked from the plant back in October of 2011. The study revealed that significantly more radioactive caesium was released into the atmosphere as a result of the Fukushima explosion than many nuclear experts previously told the public.

Fukushima Radiation Levels: A Cause for Concern

The researchers from this study went against the official explanations (now confirmed as

Illegal kidney trade booms as new organ is ‘sold every hour’

World Health Organisation estimates 10,000 black market operations involving human organs take place each year.

The illegal trade in kidneys has risen to such a level that an estimated 10,000 black market operations involving purchased human organs now take place annually, or more than one an hour, World Health Organisation experts have revealed.

Evidence collected by a worldwide network of doctors shows that traffickers are defying laws intended to curtail their activities and are cashing in on rising international demand for replacement kidneys driven by the increase in diabetes and other diseases.

Killings, cancer, corruption and Azerbaijan: Eurovision in the Islamic Republic of BP

Will “Beyond Petroleum” oil giant BP pick the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest today in Baku, Azerbaijan? If so, I wouldn’t be surprised.

When I was arrested by the military police of Azerbaijan during my investigation of BP for Channel 4′s Dispatches in 2010, one of the cops who surrounded our crew in the desert told us, with great pride:

“BP drives this country.”

Indeed it does.

In 1992, the newly independent former Soviet republic of Azerbaijan elected a kindly Muslim Professor, Abulfaz Elchibey, as President.

But the voters had made an error: Elchibey refused to give BP an exclusive contract to drill

FDA knew all along about ADRs. See their website – WHY LEARN ABOUT ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS?

A page on the FDA official website that describes that the FDA DOES, in fact, know about the horrific effects of the drugs they’ve been certifying as safe and effective!!The page is titled: WHY LEARN ABOUT ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS?

It’s a header for a seminar of some kind, a module that is now a dead link.

And here is what the FDA confesses to on this undated page at their own site!!

Over 2 million serious adverse drug reactions (ADRs) a year in the US.

100,000 deaths yearly from medical drugs.

ADRs are the fourth leading cause of death in the US, ahead of pulmonary disease, diabetes, AIDS, pneumonia, accidents, and automobile deaths.

For years, I’ve been presenting these figures, and I’ve said the FDA has to know about them. But here is the smoking gun!!

Just in case they get to know about it and “vanish” it here’s a snip

millions of deaths due to prescription drugs

THEY KNOW. Yet, the FDA takes no responsibility for certifying and okaying the drugs that are killing and maiming people!!

This is astounding. This is mind-boggling.

Copy this link and save the page. It may disappear without warning from the FDA site.

Accidentally Released – and Incredibly Embarrassing – Documents Show How Goldman et al Engaged in ‘Naked Short Selling’

Matt Taibi Blog

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes God smiles on us. Last week, he smiled on investigative reporters everywhere, when the lawyers for Goldman, Sachs slipped on one whopper of a legal banana peel, inadvertently delivering some of the bank’s darker secrets into the hands of the public.

The lawyers for Goldman and Bank of America/Merrill Lynch have been involved in a legal battle for some time – primarily with the retail giant, but also with Rolling Stone, the Economist, Bloomberg, and the New York Times. The banks have been fighting us to keep sealed certain documents that surfaced in the discovery process of an ultimately unsuccessful lawsuit filed by Overstock against the banks.

Last week, in response to an motion to unseal certain documents, the banks’

The Elite Believe That You Are Ruining Their Planet And They Want You To Stop Reproducing

Today, there are more than 7 billion people living on earth. For the global elite, that is problem number one. The vast majority of us don’t spend much time thinking about global population issues, but for many among the elite it is an absolute obsession. Many of them truly believe that you are ruining their planet and they desperately want you to stop reproducing so much. Among the elite, the belief that the world is grossly overpopulated and that this is causing most of our major global problems crosses all political, cultural and social boundaries. This philosophy is taught as gospel at the vast majority of all colleges and universities on the planet, and it is being relentlessly pushed by the United Nations, the WHO, the World Bank and national governments all over the globe. When most people think of “overpopulation”, they think of places such as India, but the truth is that those of us living in America are considered to be the worst offenders because our lifestyles are “polluting” the planet so rapidly. In fact, one scientist recently estimated that a child born in the United States has a “carbon legacy” 55 times greater than a child born in India. The elite are convinced that if they can reduce the global population far enough and get the remaining people living on earth to switch over to “sustainable lifestyles” that they will be able to save

None of the agents seemed to know who he was (a war criminal who should be arrested).

Kissinger, who was in a wheelchair, was told by a TSA agent that he needed to be searched.

‘Greece is screwed, there are no jobs and it has been run by crooks’

Worsening financial and political turmoil in southern Europe caused a surge of interest in London property last month with buyers from Greece and Spain showing strongly among investors seeking a safe haven for their money.

The number of Greeks searching for homes costing more than 1.5 million pounds ($2.4 million) on the website of property agent Savills jumped 39 percent in April compared with the average of the preceding six months, the company said.

“The reason Greeks are coming is very simple,” said Dinos Joannou, a 65-year-old Cypriot who works in the Athenian Grocery in the Bayswater district of London and has seen growing numbers arrive this year. “Greece is screwed, there are no jobs and it has been run by crooks.”

Dutch With Food Aid Shows New Economic Reality Engulfing Europe

By Fred Pals, Angeline Benoit and Dara Doyle – May 9, 2012

It’s just after lunchtime on a drizzly day in the Amsterdam suburb of Bos en Lommer and the line of people waiting to fill their bags with free rice, juice, potatoes and bread is lengthening.

The market is one of 135 food banks in the Netherlands bailing out people trying to survive on less than 180 euros ($234) a month, the threshold to qualify for the aid. Organizers say demand for the service rose 20 percent in the first quarter.
